A Godsend

I graduated from Chico 3 years ago. I live in Southern California and was able to do all my work online and/or at my local community college. This type of program is a godsend to people like me -- a working mom living in a remote area. I would have had to travel 2 hours (one way) to my nearest 4yr university, which is why I had not finished my degree. I found the online degree program at Chico State to be an exceptionally good value, as I paid exactly the same tuition as if I had been a student physically present on campus. The program advisors were extremely helpful in planning my program and making sure all my credits transferred. I especially enjoyed the mix of delivery options in my online classes; some were "read and post" classes with no live instructor element, while others were "live" classes broadcast from a studio classroom with resident students present in the class and an assistant assigned to monitor the computer to ask the questions that the online students typed in. With just a couple of exceptions, the professors were excellent! Even after I have finished my degree I can still email them with questions. I have nothing but praise for the online degree program at Chico State.

I have not yet enrolled, but have been doing my research of online schools on & off for 6+ months. Not only is CSU well rated as a public university system, they are highly rated in their course ciriculum for their on-campus instruction. If you are going to spend the money for an online degree, I would seriously consider one of the many public university programs before looking at the "for-profit" or even private, not-for-profit schools. The only downside is they don't offer online associates degrees, so you'll have to complete that first.
